Managing Director
Supporting the project delivery team is Managing Director, Stephan Rattray, who is actively involved in the day-to-day management of BGCL and provides leadership, guidance and training for the continual development of the company. Having been active in Land Development for 25 years he brings a level of advocacy for the client not often seen in the contracting industry. His experience as a Land Surveyor gives him a high level of technical expertise and understanding to push projects along.

Head of Operations
Darren oversees the operational activities of the business and leads the project delivery team. Darren is responsible for the placement of BGCL resources (people and equipment) across all projects, and for ensuring every team is meeting program productivity targets, quality of physical works, compliance to specifications, local authority requirements, and BGCL’s procedures and processes. Darren’s practical experience in the field, understanding of works programming and his superior communication abilities provide clear and inspirational direction to the team. Darren provides the necessary auditing and monitoring to ensure quality records are captured and maintained to verify compliance to contract requirements.

Plant & Equipment Manager
The wheels keep turning on BGCL's growing fleet of plant and vehicles thanks to our dedicated plant and equipment manager, Paul Van Der Meer. Paul's constant surveillance and adherence to BGCL’s servicing program ensures our fleet and plant and equipment remain fit for purpose and readily available to service project requirements. Paul is also responsible for the procurement of both new and hired tools and equipment.

Project Manager
Ewen came to BGCL with extensive experience in road construction, infrastructure, and deep drainage work. His management skills include owning and running civil contracting businesses. Ewen places high value on the relationships with both the crews on site and with each client. He knows how to make projects perform and to achieve budgeted results. His development while working for BGCL reflects his drive and talent for managing civil works sites, and is confirmed by his progression to Project Manager on BGCL flagship developments.

Project Manager
BGCL had high expectations of Rob when he joined the company, after receiving glowing reports from his referees. Rob has not disappointed, in fact, he has exceeded all expectations, quickly rising from equipment operator to Foreman to Site Supervisor, and has now stepped up as a Project Manager. Rob is a perfectionist and the crews he oversees have to follow suit, delivering a high quality of workmanship on time. Rob has recently completed his NZ Certificate Level 5 – Infrastructure Works, Contract Management.

Project Manager
Karl joined BG contracting after working and living in the UK, where he was a highly experienced and qualified drainage foreman as well as having plenty of experience within the civil area. This combined with his amiable personality have provided the key components of a quality site leader.
Karl has been promoted from site supervisor to project manager where he has completed a number of projects, he has a firm hand on the delivery of quality and safety which he takes pride in delivering.
Karl is well established on his leadership journey and has a thirst for pushing his own personal development, having achieved an impressive cache of formal qualifications since arriving in NZ including completing the NZ Certificate Level 5 Projects and NZ Certificate Level 5 Infrastructure works Contract management.
